On this day in 2008 was our last full day in Greece. We got up early so we could bus across Paros to the port and catch a ferry back to the mainland. Don’t worry; we left plenty of time to get our last fix of Greek pastries. You can see at the back right is another chocolate baklava - so yummy. (more…)

Starting the day with crepes! Above, Darren’s is banana with mango and honey sauce, below, mine is stuffed with tomato and cheese, and we shared a nice thick orange juice. If only it wasn’t so much more work than cereal, I would have these every day at home! (more…)

We wanted to check out a restaurant called Ephessus while we were on the island of Paros so we thought we’d pop by for lunch on our first day there. We were greeted by the owner who told us we’d be better to go some place else for lunch and come back to his restaurant for dinner. So lunch ended up being gyros and souvlaki at the port. (more…)

Big, thick, waffles with ice cream and caramel sauce for brunch, what I was thinking I have no idea. Really tasty, but super sweet, I was on a sugar-high for most of the morning. Darren was more sensible, ordering custard. Great fresh fruit drinks again too! If fruit weren’t so expensive here I might start making these at home. (more…)

We rented a scooter and explored the island of Naxos. Lunched in Apiranthos; cheese pie, pork with tomato sauce, and spaghetti, from a cozy courtyard cafe. I now love cheese pie, and spinach pie too. Oh, and spinach and cheese pie. It might be the simplicity – layers of phyllo with cheese, I really need to start making this more at home. (more…)
