get ‘em while they’re hot (and inexpensive)

kettle point #1

Kettle Point #1, 8×10 inch minimalist seascape photograph

Kettle Point #1 has been hangin’ around our studio for a few months now while we’ve been dreaming up something fun to do with it, much like we did with Elviage pearl. And I think we have great idea!

On Tuesday February 16th, 2010 at 5:00 pm EST we’ll be listing Kettle Point #1 in our shop for the absurdly low price of $5. Then, when that first print sells the price will increase to $6, and will continue to go up by $1 each time one is sold. Does that sound like fun or what?

Stay tuned to our blog for more information next week!

quiet simplicity

art wall interview

My heart skipped a beat when I read the introduction Katie wrote to accompany my interview on her Art Wall blog!

Quiet simpicity.

That’s it exactly! The precise feeling that I want my work to radiate. To hear someone say that about my photographs warms my soul.

Thank you so much Katie! You certainly made my week!

You can read the interview on Katie’s Art Wall Blog.

“Art is an expression of life that transcends both time and space. We must explore our own souls through art to give a new form and a new meaning to the nature of the world. There is a certain point in time, where the harmony of light, atmosphere, and spirit collide, a place in the cosmos where the rhythm of nature unfolds in front of the camera. This can only happen once.”

choosing art sizes for your space

choosing art sizes: 20x24, 24x30 inches

It’s always fun (ok, maybe it’s just me) to figure out what size artwork to hang in a given location. We’re currently trying to figure out which size of framed pieces we would like to hang above our new living room sideboard. Read More »

smitten kitchen

smitten kitchen

Where do you go when you’re looking for a great new version of an old recipe? Lately I’ve been turning to Smitten Kitchen, a great resource for recipes and other food-like how to’s. Plus her photography is gorgeous too, which is a big deal for me.

I think the first thing I ever made from her site were her Cheese Straws, and let me tell you, they were very popular. A wonderful balance of savoury, salty, and slightly hot – a combination I believe that could lead to much tomfoolery when accompanied by a nice stout. Lately I find myself looking at her bread, brownie, and red velvet cake recipes, I can’t wait to try them all!

Where do you turn when you’re looking to put something new on the table?

This image just wouldn’t be the same without that boat. Rebekka’s gorgeous scenics are my favourites, followed closely by her self-portraits. You can view more of her work on her website, blog, and flickr.
