<p style="text-align: center;"><em>Lake Erie #4</em>, 8×10 inch minimalist seascape photograph</p>
<p>I have been dying to photograph at Erieau. We finally made it out there last week and came back with this gem: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/jennifersquires/search?search_query=%26quot%3Blake+erie+4%26quot%3B&amp;search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5594686&amp;shopname=jennifersquires/?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=SocialMedia&amp;utm_campaign=lakeerie4description" target="_blank">Lake Erie #4</a>.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3928" title="20100824-erieau-026-8x10-cu" src="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/20100824-erieau-026-8x10-cu.jpg" alt="20100824 erieau 026 8x10 cu lake erie #4" width="550" height="550" /></p>
<p>For those of you that have been asking, this image was created entirely in camera. The only work that was done in Photoshop was retouching a few bits of sand that had found their way onto my lens, which is inevitable when photographing on the beach.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3929" title="20100824-erieau-026-vbbt810" src="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/20100824-erieau-026-vbbt810.jpg" alt="lake erie #4, framed" width="550" height="623" /></p>
<p>I ache to go back and capture more.</p>

<p>This modern minimalist seascape photograph was captured in Port Stanley, Ontario, Canada on the shore of Lake Erie shortly after sunset. Surrounded by fishermen and june bugs and under the light of the full moon we waited patiently until just the right moment to capture this quiet, peaceful scene.</p>

<p>Remember last fall I went out to photograph the <a href="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/2009/11/16/grand-bend-day-1/">Grand Bend shoreline</a> only to discover that the snow fence had already been installed for the winter? Well last week I thought it would finally be safe to recapture that scene &#8211; this time fence-less.<span id="more-3659"></span></p>
<div id="attachment_3664" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 510px"><img class="size-full wp-image-3664" title="grandbend2-weather" src="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/grandbend2-weather.jpg" alt="grand bend weather forecast for may 26, 2010" width="500" height="234" /><p class="wp-caption-text">The weather forecast looked great!</p></div>
<p>I got up nice and early (read 3:30 am), drove 71 km from home (which took about an hour and fifteen minutes), saw some beautiful fog along the way, and arrived just in time for sunrise.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3665" title="grandbend2-sunrise" src="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/grandbend2-sunrise.jpg" alt="5:52 am sunrise" width="89" height="42" /></p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3670" title="grandbend-map" src="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/grandbend-map.jpg" alt="map - london to grand bend, ontario" width="500" height="500" /></p>
<p>Things didn&#8217;t work out quite as planned; it turned out that a portion of the fence remained because they are trying to naturalize the area with new native plants (which look great by the way). I was still able to capture the image above of a lifeguard station and I&#8217;m quite pleased with it. There&#8217;s something about it that seems a little bit industrial and timeless, I envision a nice big 24 x 30 inch print of it hanging on a small, bare wall in a corporate office.</p>
<p>Grand Bend #2 stats</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/2009/11/09/kettle-point-day-1/">Grand Bend location scout, fall 2009</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/2009/11/16/grand-bend-day-1/">Grand Bend initial photography day, fall 2009</a></li>
<li>got up at 3:30 am on second shoot day</li>
<li>drove 143 km round trip on shoot day</li>
<li>2.5 hours driving to and from Grand Bend + 1 hour spent actually capturing the photograph + 3 hours spent in production: processing raw file and retouching sand grains off the lens the inevitably land there while photographing on the beach (otherwise this photograph is presented &#8220;as shot&#8221; with no major digital enhancements) = total time not including the location scout and the initial shoot in the fall: 6.5 hours</li>
<li>25 frames captured</li>
</ul>
<p>You can now purchase my Grand Bend #2  beach photograph as an open edition print from our <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/jennifersquires" target="_blank">art shop</a>.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m now on the hunt for a lake that has a nice long wooden dock, where have you seen one in Ontario?</p>

<p>I scouted out the area last week during my <a href="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/2010/03/29/four-ports-a-point-and-a-saint/">four ports, a point, and a saint trip</a> and decided that it would be a great spot to capture more peaceful photographs of water. The evening was beautiful! Watching the sunset is such a soothing way to spend time with my husband.</p>

Remember last week when I told you that we were going to play a little game with our new photograph <a href="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/2010/02/11/get-em-while-theyre-hot-and-inexpensive/">Kettle Point #1</a>? Well, here&#8217;s what you need to know:</p>
<p>At 5pm EST today, Tuesday February 16th, 2010, the image <a href="http://www.etsy.com/search_results_shop.php?search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5594686&amp;search_query=kettle+point+1" target="_blank">Kettle Point #1</a> will be made available in<a href="http://www.jennifersquires.etsy.com" target="_blank"> our shop</a> for the ridiculously low price of $5. Then, when the first print sells the price will go up to $6, when the second print sells the price will raise to $7, and it will continue to increase by $1 for every print sold.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m really excited about this, it&#8217;s sure to be such fun! Set you clock and stop by <a href="http://www.jennifersquires.etsy.com" target="_blank">our shop</a> tonight!</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Wednesday was a beautifully overcast wintery day in our part of the world, perfect for snowy tree photographs. Darren found a new area just outside of town that he thought I should check out, so off I went &#8211; camera <span id="more-2951"></span>in tow! Many gorgeous trees were captured; this image being my personal favourite. Look for it to be available in <a href="http://www.jennifersquires.etsy.com" target="_blank">our shop</a> some time next week.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We haven&#8217;t come up with a name yet, we&#8217;re thinking <em>Elviage Pearl</em> or <em>Alone Together</em>. Please comment with your suggestions.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://plasticmanners.wordpress.com/" target="_blank"><img class="size-full wp-image-2952  aligncenter" title="plasticmanners" src="http://www.jennifersquires.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/plasticmanners.jpg" alt="new blog - plastic manners" width="500" height="125" /></a></p>
<p>Have you noticed a new blog appearing in our blogroll? I just added a brand new one (new as of December) to our list and it might just be what I&#8217;m looking for to fill the green void left by the signing off of <a href="http://greenasathistle.com/" target="_blank">Green as a Thistle</a>. <a href="http://plasticmanners.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Plastic Manners</a>, brought to my attention earlier this week via the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/DavidSuzuki" target="_blank">David Suzuki Foundation Facebook page</a>, chronicles the tale of Taina&#8217;s self-imposed year without plastics and the creation of her &#8220;Vile Pile&#8221;, unavoidable and incidentally acquired plastics.</p>
<p>I am certain this is a blog that is going to get me riled &#8211; not by Taina, but by the plastic world we live in and the little things that I often overlook. For instance, why do apples from the grocery store have to come with one form of plastic or another? They are either packed within a clear plastic bag, or they individually brandish a plastic sticker. Argh&#8230;</p>
