Delicious Magazine Photographs 201304 009 Published Delicious. Magazine, The Netherlands

When Maaike Koorman from Delicious. magazine emailed me in November I was thrilled! She wanted to use Elviage Pearl for the introduction image to the appetizer section of their Christmas issue. Heck ya! Count me in!

Delicious Magazine Photographs 201304 017 Published Delicious. Magazine, The Netherlands

The Christmas issue is stunning! I’m so used to seeing food photographed on a white background I had no idea it could be so gorgeous on rich dark grey. And the food looks, well, delicious! The magazine is entirely in dutch but I may have to translate a few of these recipes.

What are your favourite food magazines? And what do you like best about them? Is it the diversity of recipes? Loads of gorgeous photographs? Or the easy to follow instructions?

Blushing Bog

Blushing Bog, Landscape Photography

I woke up to another beautifully foggy morning this past fall. It hung heavy over the city creating a cozy blanket of wonderfully soft light. My early dawn walk through the Sifton Bog was filled with woodland magic, deer and all. One of the nice things about fall frosts is that it casts a thin layer of white on all the brown leaves turning them a soft pink, making a chilly day less bleak.

Landscape Photography – A Foggy Season in London

Fog Landscape Photography Morning Delight Landscape Photography A Foggy Season in London

Morning Delight, Landscape Photography

This winter has certainly been a rough go for minimalist tree photographs, we’ll get a dumping of snow then it warms up the next day and the bulk of it disappears. So my choices are no visibility and poor road conditions or patchy snow that doesn’t do much to hide the grass or the background.

So I’m left to play in the fog, which we’ve had quite a bit of. It makes driving visibility terrible for getting to locations but at least the roads tend to be dry. I click to the Weather Network each morning to see the prospects for the coming days and snow still seems like a distant dream.

What do you think? Do you still prefer my Winter Tree Photographs? Or is the style too distinctly different that they can’t even be compared? And how do you like the black and white? Too eerie?

More to come.

We did it! We’ve tested a TON of calendar printing houses and we’ve finally found one that prints gorgeous quality photographs in traditional wall calendar form. Hooray! Our final calendar test arrived in the mail last week and I’m excited to share it with you.

Our 2013 wall calendar is filled with the same photographs as our 5×7 2013 Calendar and our 2013 Jewel Case Calendar but in a much larger, more traditional format. It’s professionally printed on thick cardstock with a wire-o binding so it hangs nice and flat on your wall. Each month features a large 12×12 inch photograph at the top and a calendar grid below with lots of room to fill in all your appointments.

We’ve only got two of each of our other calendars left, so get yours while you still can. You can see our full collection of 2013 calendars in our shop.

Featured – The Londoner

London Ontario Landscape Photographer Jennifer Squires Ross The Londoner Featured The Londoner

We had an absolutely amazing time on Beausoleil Island! The fresh air, the warm sunshine, the biking, the hiking. It was so inspiring to be surrounded by such natural beauty and there was always more for us to see and explore. Such a wonderful photography trip.

I am truly honoured that I was given the chance to spend a week on the island as the artist in residence at Georgian Bay Islands National Park. So you can imagine how delighted I was to see that our experience was featured in The Londoner. Thank you so much Chris Montanini!

2013 Fine Art Landscape Calendars

2013 calendar wall 069 2013 Fine Art Landscape Calendars

We’ve spent the past few months hard at work on our 2013 calendar and we’re pleased to finally share them! You can choose between two styles, our 5×7 calendar and our jewel case calendar.

2013 Calendar, 5×7 Inches

2013 calendar wall 024 2013 Fine Art Landscape Calendars

Our 2013 wall calendar is the same style calendar we offered last year but with all new photographs. It’s professionally printed on 5×7 inch iridescent pearl cardstock and is made up of 7 loose double-sided pages to save our trees. Each month features a 5×5 inch photograph that’s perfect for framing, as well as a section for notes – just circle the date on the calendar and add a special little reminder in the space provided.

And because this 2013 calendar is a collection of unbound pages it leaves lots of different ways for you to display it:

  • perched on a mini desktop easel or plate stand
  • pinned to an inspiration board
  • with a magnet on the fridge
  • hung on the wall with a clip
  • or my favourite, placed in a standard size 5×7 inch frame with the glass removed so you can still write on it
  • frame, easels, and clips not included

London Art Show – Square Foot Show

london art show square foot show ad 2012 London Art Show Square Foot Show

{Exhale, Fine Art Landscape Photograph}

I’m very excited to be a part of a new group art show at The Art Exchange – The Square Foot Show! The premise is simple, art that is exactly 12 x 12 inches displayed in a grid around the gallery, lets just say the libra in me is totally digging the symmetry.

My submission is a square version of my Lake Huron photograph Exhale, and we’re trying a little something different this time. It’s printed on metal! Our lab uses a dye-sublimation process to transfer the dyes onto aluminum, the corners are slightly rounded, and the piece is accented by a silver mounting post in each corner, they lift the image off the wall and provide the mechanism for hanging.

Definitely stop by on Friday’s opening night celebration! Darren and I will both be there along with tons of other participating artists, and hundreds of square feet of artwork.

While you’ve got your calendar handy be sure to check out our Art Show page to see where we’ll be this summer.

If you had a 12 x 12 inch piece of art where would you hang it in your home? The powder room? A hallway? Above a night stand? Do you have a special nook that would be perfect for a photograph this size?
