Last fall I started noticing pops of earthy wine all over the place. I couldn’t go to a party without seeing a sweater, go for a walk without seeing a scarf, or drive around the city without seeing it used on the billboards. Turns out it’s called Marsala and it’s the Pantone Colour of the Year 2015. A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls.

A few weeks ago I showed you Benjamin Moore’s Colour Trends for 2015 so lets take a peek at what Pantone has to say about their Colour of the Year:

Nurturing and fulfilling, Marsala is a natural fit for the kitchen and dining room – making it ideal for tabletop, small appliances and linens throughout the home.

~ Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®

I don’t have many photographs that use Marsala, but I do have lots that have undertones complimented by it – check out Magic Garden, Lake Erie #9, Lake Erie #10, Lake Ontario #3, and Summer’s Serenity. And it works beautifully with black and white’s like Vanilla Dream, Tree in Winter, and Elviage Pearl.

What do you think of Pantone’s Colour of the year? Is it in or is it out? Have you noticed it popping up? Do you think you’ll use it in your home? Your wardrobe?
