my carbon footprint

I finally calculated my carbon footprint!  Let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it sounds.  There are so many online calculators out there it took me a while to figure out which one was right for me.  I settled on two:

carbonfootprint.com – I like this one because it allows me to enter my household energy use by the amount I actually used instead of a dollar value, it just seems more accurate.

earthlab.com

The reason I chose these two were because they both factored in information about the energy we use at home, which I think is very important. And the results are in!  Here’s how I did;  Carbon Footprint gave me a score of 9.85 tonnes per year while earthlab.com gave me a score of 8.9.

According to Carbon Footprint the average footprint for people in Canada is 20.0, the average for industrial nations is 11, the average worldwide is 4, and the target to combat climate change is 2 tonnes per year.

So gather up your utility bills for the last year and calculate your carbon footprint.
