I hung my head in frustration. It was autumn and sooo pretty and magical outside, and everyone seemed to be telling me that it’s the most beautiful time of year for photography. But to me it was the most beautiful time of year for walks in the woods.
I didn’t want my photographs to look like everyone else’s. A row of red and yellow trees reflected in a lake is gorgeous, but it wasn’t quite… well… me. Every time I tried to make those images they seemed to be missing something. That glow. That soul.
So more and more I’ve been experimenting with abstract fall trees. Capturing the gist of the colour but letting all the other busyness disappear. And it’s been fun and relaxing and inspiring every step of the way.
My newest Golden Groves photographs will be available in our shop on Tuesday, January 31st at Noon EST.
