{Tarte Tatin}
A little while back it was Pi Day, did you know that? And every year Darren and I release our inner nerd and celebrate with pie. This year was no different:
- pizza pie for lunch
- chicken pot pie for dinner
- tarte tatin for dessert
The Tarte Tatin was the result of having recently read Molly Wizenberg’s (of Orangette fame) A Homemade Life. Thanks to the Emily from The List Love Book Club for telling me about it! A Homemade Life is not only the biography of the lovely Molly Wizenberg and the birth of her blog, but it’s also filled to the brim with decadent recipes that, based on her descriptions, I must try.
The Tarte Tatin was one of the first few things we made because:
- it’s filled with carmelly appley goodness
- it’s dairy and egg free so I didn’t have to work hard to make it Darren friendly
- it fit right in with our pi(e) day schedule
It’s quite a fancy thing that I bet would be divine with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I think I might make it for my Mom the next time she comes to visit.
{On a side note, we’ve also made Molly’s Ed Fretwell Soup, which is an Italian-vegetable-everything-but-the-kitchen-sink kinda dish that you should definitely try. It’s not only comfort foody but it tastes even better the next day}
I am so happy you read that book. Isn’t it the best?
