I. Love. Lists.
I’m a very typical libra. I’m balanced and I’m organized. Which is probably why I love lists. So when I heard about The List Love Book Club I thought it would be fun to share some of those lists with you. I hope to highlight other kinds of lists on our blog this year too, mostly checklists and other tools that I use to stay organized. But those are for another day.
So here goes. And maybe you’ll join The List Love Book Club too.
Books that made me cry.
{in no particular order}
- Always Looking Up: The Adventures of An Incurable Optimist by Michael J Fox
- The Pelee Project by Jane Christmas
- Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
- Vinyl Cafe Diaries by Stuart Mclean
- Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
I know I’ve missed a few. I’d love to hear about the books that have made you cry, I’m always looking for something new to read.

Hi Jennifer, Welcome to the club! I am so happy that you wanted to participate. I love Eat Pray Love too much to the chagrin of many I know! She got me at the whole “I loved my pizza so much, I think it loved me back” line. And now, I need to poke around your website a bit, because your photos are amazing!
i love her passion! i remember reading excerpts from italy to darren and swearing we must go there to eat. we did end up going to greece because we love greek food…
So glad you are doing these lists with us! Our list might conflict today…but still….I’m glad we all have books we enjoy! Looking forward to you linking up each week.
hi danielle, i did notice our lists conflict today, that’s great! if everyone like the same thing the world would be quite a bore now wouldn’t it. i’m loving hearing what other people have read, starting to make my list of future reads. happy list making!
Another Libra, wow me too!:) I am balanced and organized and have a ton of lists! I also listen to both points of view( can get complicated sometimes!). Anyway, I never heard of Vinyl Cafe Diaries, did you love it? Oh, and I am an addicted reader also! Come and look at my list 🙂
Great blog!
hi joye, vinyl cafe diaries is a book of heartwarming tales of family life written by cbc icon stuart mclean. on his website he has podcasts of his radio show: http://www.cbc.ca/vinylcafe/home.php
Thanks Jennifer! I will check it out!!
love the list idea! i read far too much fantasy and science fiction for tears; the last book which made me cry was the last harry potter 😉
i haven’t gotten that far yet, so don’t tell me how things go!
Just catching up on lists:).
I LOVE Eat, Pray, Love. I listened to it on audio (with my husband- on a road trip), and it is one of my favorite memories.
I also want to read the Michael J Fox, and re-read Great Expectations. Headed to check out the other picks right now. Anything about family life sounds right up my alley:).
Just added 3 books to my wish list!
I think I cry at some point with every book I read. I’m a sap. It all began with Charlotte’s Web and went downhill from there. The latest is The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. One book where I cried an obscene amount while reading was The Book of Ruth. Oh, and The Road. I think I sobbed.
