Beach Sunrise Photography

Lake Erie waves shimmy towards the rising sun as it reflects across the water and onto the wet sand.

My alarm went off at 4:45am so I could make it to the beach in time for the 7am sunrise. I’d been going every week in the hopes of making a special piece of art. The clouds hung heavy in the night sky for the hour before dawn, and I was skeptical that any pretty colours would be seen. But when the sun began to pass over the horizon, the clouds parted, revealing this beautiful rose gold lining.

Gently moved my camera while photographing, I created a subtle painterly effect. Softening the clouds. Highlighting the movement of the waves. Infusing happy energy into this piece.

I hope it inspires the same optimism in you as it does in me.
